Basic Accounts Now Available for 6th-12th Grade Students in California Public Schools
In 2023, the California Department of Education (CDE) executed a data-sharing agreement with the California College Guidance Initiative (CCGI) that grants 6th-12th grade California public school students Basic Accounts on CaliforniaColleges.edu starting Fall 2024.
We are excited to announce that the new Basic Accounts are now available, and 6th-12th grade students enrolled in public schools across California can now register their new accounts immediately.
NOTE: Students who already have Partner Accounts are not impacted by this change and can continue to use the platform as they normally would.
About the Data-Sharing Agreement with CDE
CCGI’s data-sharing agreement with CDE ensures that 6th-12th grade students in California public schools are able to access most of the college and career planning tools and resources on CaliforniaColleges.edu, at no cost to the students or their school districts. This new partnership enables CCGI to make sure that:
- All student data on CaliforniaColleges.edu comes from an official data source (CDE), ensuring that Basic Student Accounts are generated using verified data;
- All Student Accounts on CaliforniaColleges.edu are tied to a student’s Statewide Student Identifier (SSID), allowing their activity and data on CaliforniaColleges.edu to follow them regardless of district.
